84840-72010 fits ALPHARD/VELLFIRE/HV, AURIS, LEXUS CT200H, MARK X ZIO, COROLLA AXIO/FIELDER and COROLLA/AURIS (JPP), built from 2007 to 2012.
How can I verify that 84840-72010 is a genuine Toyota part?
A genuine Tail Cover Open Switch shows the Toyota number 84840-72010 on the box label with the country-of-origin marking. On the part itself, the OE supplier’s mark is moulded or etched on the component next to the Toyota number (DENSO on coils and sensors); and the connector has the factory-keyed pin count and latch geometry that only one position on the harness accepts. Documentation is available on request – commercial invoice, packing list and Certificate of Origin.

This part is listed for the Rear, exterior (tailgate / back door) position.
How many pieces are needed for 84840-72010?
You get one piece per position – check the quantity required for your application.
Is the genuine part worth it compared with an aftermarket equivalent?
The genuine part differs in ways that show up in service: the unit is calibrated to the factory signal range, so the ECU reads it without fault codes, and the factory-keyed connector plugs straight into your harness with no adapters or rewiring.
What documentation comes with an order?
Commercial invoice and packing list accompany every shipment, and a Certificate of Origin can be issued on request; the part number is laser-etched on the housing, so you can match it against the invoice.
